#Jersey January 2

I write about different places but mostly North Carolina. I was born and raised in New JERSEY so that would be # 2 on my list. A few days before Christmas I stumbled on YouTube video about the home of an artist from New JERSEY.

Everyplace fights stereotypes. For New JERSEY it often the images people have on what the entire state looks like. For the record it is not what you observe around the Newark Airport or the see on the opening of the HBO TV show The Sopranos. That clip below from the show does include locations and scenes filmed in New JERSEY but I don’t think it captures all of New JERSEY.

Opening of HBO Series “The Sopranos”

The video features Northern JERSEY towns like Elizabeth, Linden, Kearny, and East Rutherford and does not totally represent what you can see across the entire state.

New JERSEY is made of 21 counties. Tucked into the Northwest corner of the state lies Sussex County. For people that are from the “Garden State” we all know that Sussex County is world’s away from the industrial scarring of the Meadowlands. Living in Sussex County is an artist named Ricky Boscarino. Ricky graduated from the Rhode island School of Design and today he is proclaimed as an artist, jeweler, and builder.

What he did with his Sandyston Township (NJ) home that he calls Luna Parc is amazing. The 8 min documentary tells part of the story.

Twice a year before the pandemic he would offer an open house for three days. He states on his Luna Parc website that they will announce in May 2021 future dates.

If you are looking for an alternative winter view of what JERSEY looks like the video below may clash and contradict popular stereotypes. There is beauty found everywhere and that includes JERSEY.
