#Fingertips January 2

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

For January 2025, several of us are taking part in the 30-Day Song Lyrics Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we utilize a theme and post the song lyrics from a song that connects the two. Today my theme is on a Body Part and my song is FINGERTIPS.

The song Fingertips was performed by Stevie Wonder and written by two of his musical mentors Henry Cosby and Clarence Paul who by the way was born in Winston-Salem NC. It was originally written as a jazz instrumental but through a series of serendipitous events with the Motor Town Revue in 1963 lyrics got added. Wonder recorded the song on March 10, 1963, at the Regal Theater in Chicago. On August 10, 1963, the song had become a #1 hit, and Wonder was just 13 years old. It became the first live recording to ever hit #1

Song Lyrics 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines

  1. Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, and explain, if necessary, why it connects to your daily theme.
  2. Please try to include the songwriters
  3. Link to a video so people can listen to the song

Lyrics

Ev’rybody say, ‘Yeah’
(Yeah, yeah!)
Say, yeah!
(Yeah!)
Say, yeah
(Yeah!)
Yeah?
(Yeah!)
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Just a little bit-a so-whoa-whoa-whoa-oh-oul
Yeah-yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah
Clap your hands, just a little bit louder
Clap your hands, just a little bit louder

I know that ev’rybody had, yeah
Ev’rybody have a good time

So, if you want me to
If you want me to
I’m gonna swing a-song
Yeah, just-a one mo’ time
Be sure I’ll come back
Just-a one more time
When I come back
So, good-bye

How about it?
Let’s hear it for him, huh?
Little Stevie Wonder

Take a bow, Steveland

Unk crowd woman: ‘Yeah!, Harry, get down!’

Band member: (What key? What key?)
Other band member: (Been tellin’ you)
Band member: (You been tellin’ me, what?)

Hey!

Come on!
Well, good-bye, good-bye
A-good-bye, good-bye
Good-bye, good-bye, good-bye

I’m gonna go, yeah
I’m gonna go, yeah
Let’s just swing it one more time!

Closing

A world without Stevie Wonder would not be the same. God bless his Stevie’s mom for letting his gift shine despite blindness.
