The book “The Art of War” written by Sun Tzu some 2,500 years ago appears on a lot of “must read” list for leaders.

The book is composed of 13 chapters, each of which focuses on a different aspect of war with advice for generals. It’s a good book but it is somewhat repetitive and does leave much to interpretation.

In the book it lists 5 FAULTS that generals should avoid:

  • Recklessness-which leads to destruction
  • Cowardice-which leads to capture
  • A hasty temper-which can be provoked by insults
  • A delicacy of honor-which is sensitive to shame
  • Over-solicitude for his men-which exposes him to worry and trouble

The advice in this book is spot on regardless of your rank in life.
