Today for the 30-Day Sign Coach4aday Challenge my post is about EXIT signs.

In the United States, it all started in 1911. A huge fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in downtown Manhattan killed 146 workers. That disaster sparked NFPA to act on creating a way to get people out of buildings quicker. Thus, the American EXIT sign was born.

The US versus the World

Americans, me included sometimes think our way is the best way. That apparently applies to the EXIT Sign. In America we all are familiar with our four-letter word located throughout a building.

Outside of the US that is not the sign people are used to seeing. The rest of the world looks to see what is below to signify leaving a building.
