#Cogitate February 10

I have stated it in prior posts when you listen and read daily you are certain to be exposed to new words. It happened to me last week with COGITATE.

Learning a new word

To COGITATE is to “think deeply about something or to meditate”.

I actually heard this word on a podcast and had to go research its meaning. The context that COGITATE was used on that podcast got me thinking about the meanings of quotes, questions, and concepts. I soon realized that me pondering actually caused me to COGITATE.

Here were some of the quotes, questions, and concepts.

I live in North Carolina and the highest mountain peak is Mt. Mitchell. I can see the sun but I cannot see Mt. Mitchell. How can something I cannot see be closer than what I can see?

Do dogs give people names?

Water slips thru my fingers but it can support gigantic ships.

Be yourself, everyone else is already taken“. -Oscar Wilde

Taking time to COGITATE about the important things in our lives is an excellent use of our time.

I was not planning on ending the post with a fantastic 30 Day Challenge idea but learning a new vocabulary word each day is a great way to improve.

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
