Today for the 30-Day Sign Coach4aday Challenge my post is about CHEMICAL warning signs.

Over the past weekend to get ready for some Father’s Day grilling I went to my local hardware store to get my propane tank refilled. Waiting for the attendant to come out of the store I noticed what I guessed was a CHEMICAL warning sign. It is depicted below but I did not know what it meant.

To be honest I have seen these diamond shaped 4 color labels before all with different numbers but never knowing what they were saying. Research on Google provided the answers.

These warning signs are called hazard pictograms. They always appear in the shape of a diamond with a distinctive red border and white background. This communication standard is designed to let users know of the potential hazards. Each one of the diamonds represents a different category. The chart below explains what each color represents.

So now I know that the propane tank refilling station blue diamond is informing me that it is a hazardous area, and the red is letting me know that propane has a flash point of below 73 Fahrenheit, and that it is a stable with no specific hazard.
