For day 2 of the 30 Day Album #Coach4adayChallenge I have selected a 1959 record by John Lee Hooker called “BURNING HELL”.

Some people have a hard time enjoying the Blues but not me. The Blues is my favorite musical genre. John Lee Hooker is one of my all time favorite blue artists. I never knew that BURNING HELL was his first album. It was recorded in Detroit and includes some fantastic tracks.

Review of Burning Hell by John Lee Hooker

There are 12 tracks on this album all dominated by Hooker’s haunting voice and acoustic guitar.

Burning Hell by John Lee Hooker

Recorded in 1959 but it did not get released until 1992. No reason for that twenty-three year gap but the album is edgy so maybe the record executives didn’t think audiences would accept it.

Album tracks are listed below. My favorite song is Jackson Tennessee.

Give the blues a listen and you can’t go wrong with John Lee Hooker to introduce you to the genre.
