For March 2024 several of us will be participating in the “30-Day Shout-Out Coach4aday Challenge”. Today the recipient is BOB FISHER.

On Friday night I ran into Bob Fisher the retired Director of the Public Library of Robeson County. He was eating dinner with a group of close friends. Last Saturday at the Rumba on the Lumber 5K I was talking about how he always participated wearing a button-down collar shirt.

Here is a picture below of him from 2015 completing the race. Note the collar shirt under his FSU sweatshirt.

On Wednesday I am scheduled to listen to him along with others discuss their time involved with the Kiwanis of Robeson Lumberton Civic Club.

Rules of the Challenge

Organizing and participating in the 30-Day Shout Coach4aday Challenge is very simple. Below are the steps.

Here is how to participate.

  1. Identify who gets the daily Shout-Out and make sure they know you are recognizing them.
  2. Describe why you giving them a Shout-Out-what are they doing that is notable?
  3. Do this daily for 30 Days posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

If you need ideas on how to give someone a daily shout-out here is a link on LinkedIn with some ideas that are good for the workplace.

March 10th-Bob Fisher

Bob Fisher came to Lumberton, NC from Jacksonville, FL to become the director of the County Library. He made a gigantic impact on the Public Library of Robeson County and our community, but he will tell you he had help.

When Bob retired in 1999 the accolades came in fast and furious. He has received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, was given the Lifetime Achievement Award by the North Carolina Library Directors Association and was the grand marshal of the Lumberton Christmas parade.

The big retirement prize Lumberton got when Bob retired was that he stayed in Lumberton with his wife Betty. He is still involved in the community and most importantly he attempts to balances out all the ACC loyalty to North Carolina universities by being a die-hard Florida State fan.

This week as many educators celebrate reading with their children I want to give Bob Fisher a shoutout for being a leader and a reader.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
