#Associations May 25

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Over the course of our lifetime we create ASSOCIATIONS with places, organizations, and most importantly other people.

This month I have been sharing “Life Lessons” I have learned from others as part of the Coach4aday 30 Day Life Lesson Challenge. Some of those lessons are about techniques, some are about habits, and many are about various components of leadership. One important coaching tip for life is the choice we make on who to ASSOCIATE with.

When I review my circle of friends I realize that my ASSOCIATION with them has elevated my life. They have demonstrated and modeled character, virtue, productivity, ethics, generosity, and are servant leaders. Colin Powell has a quote “The simple but true fact of life is that you become like those with whom you closely associate – for the good and the bad.”

Of all the “Life Lessons” I have pondered this month friendship has influenced me the most. Yes, I have encountered neighbors, co-workers, members of the same church, and people with similar interests. The critical step is looking for people in all the categories who can go from an acquaintance to a friend.

ASSOCIATING with people who are trustworthy, loyal, and genuinely concerned for your welfare if what we should seek. Those qualities in friends elevate your life. Looking in the mirror may reveal your face but looking at the people you ASSOCIATE with reveals character.

Thanks to many for allowing me the privilege to be your friend. My ASSOCIATION with each of you has resulted in me becoming the best version of myself.

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
