#AirFresheners August 19

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

August 2026 several of us are going to take on the 30-Day Plugged in Coach4aday Challenge. Each day, we will feature an item from home or office that requires being plugged into a source of electricity to operate. We will reflect on how it makes life easier. For Day 19 it is on AIR FRESHNERS.

For thousands of years humans have been trying to mask unpleasant odors. The Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians all used scented oils, candles, perfumes, and incense to cover up the stink. What we have today with plug in Air Fresheners owes some of their evolution to aerosol spray products that appeared in America after WW II.

Aerosol products such as Air Wick, introduced in 1943, and later Glade, introduced in 1956, brought packaged fragrances into millions of American homes.

The electric air freshener took the concept another step. Instead of spraying a fragrance occasionally, a plug-in device could continuously release fragrance into a room.

One of the best-known examples is Glade PlugIns, introduced by S. C. Johnson & Son in 1992.

Was amazed on just how many choices a consumer has with these devices. Here is one video review I found

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
