For the month of April several of us are taking on the “30-Day Conversation Coach4aday Challenge“. Today’s dialog is about one of the many pieces of advice ANN Landers gave to readers.

On Sunday I went to the grocery store to pick up three items. While waiting to get checked out I overheard a conversation that pitted optimism against EXCUSES.

April Conversation Challenge

The overarching aim for the 30-Day Conversation Coach4aday Challenge is to engage or to repeat conversations and disseminate them. Whether these conversations hold valuable lessons, shareable insights, or are simply a mishmash of thoughts, the goal remains to foster connection and potential learning experiences for all involved.

Rules of the Challenge

First brevity is the key. Second it is not necessary to fully identify the parties involved but writing it like a script might be helpful. Third the conversations being shared can come from personal experiences, books, films, TV shows, or are imaginations.

While waiting to pay for three items at the grocery store a customer was attempting to sway a cashier to elevate her career status.

Customer: You know I’m a teacher why don’t you go back to school and finish your GED. Once you get that you might be able to find a job in school system as a Teacher Assistant.

Cashier: I don’t have time

Customer: Look you spend 30-45 minutes a night for 6-7 weeks studying for the GED test and you will pass. Your bright you can have a better future.

Cashier: I don’t have time

Customer: What do you do when you get home after work?

Cashier: I get cleaned up fix dinner and sit down and watch my favorite TV shows fall asleep with the TV on go to bed and do it all over again the next day.

Customer: After dinner study instead of watching TV

Cashier: That is my time

Customer walked out not understanding the logic behind the excuses.
