For December 2023, several of us are participating in the “30-Day ANATOMY Coach4aday Challenge.” My choice today is the CARPALS

During this challenge, the participants select a bone or muscle in the human body, providing details about its location and physiological significance.

How the Challenge Works

  1. Identify one anatomical part of the body.
  2. Describe what its purpose is.
  3. Describe where it is located.

Identify Your Choice

My choice today actually involves 16 of the 206 bones in the human body. We have eight (8) Carpals in each hand. Each one has a distinct name. To see a great diagram of all eight carpals go to this link.

Purpose

The carpal bones enable the wrist to move up and down and rotate. They create pathways for nerves, blood vessels, and tendons to reach specific muscles and bony structures within the wrist.

Location

They are situated between the radius and ulna of the forearm and the metacarpal bones of the hand. The carpal bones are arranged in two rows the proximal and distal.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
