Today contribution to the 30-Day Letter Writing Coach4aday Challenge is on people DISAPPEARING.

The challenge involves composing a letter to yourself when you were an earlier age. The goal is to focus on a value, habit, or choice that needs to be adopted or made.

March has been a month that has included a lot of reflective memories for me. Some of those thoughts taking place in an instance and others have been with me for multiple days. Most of it has centered on people who have disappeared from my day-to-day interactions. Today’s letter is advice moving forward.

Day 29-Letter on people go missing in your life

March 29, 2023

Dear Dan:

Over the past week you have thought of friends and family members who have died. You have wondered what happened to people that were a big part of your life as neighbors, classmates, professional colleagues, and friends. It has been troubling to admit that you have lost touch with many. So today you get some advice and counsel on how to navigate when people disappear from your innermost circle.

Advice and Guidance

It may be oversimplification but get ready to accept that people in your life can be classified in three ways.

They come into your life for a reason.

They come into your life for a season.

They come into your life for a lifetime.

Understanding and appreciating analogies about people appearing and disappearing in our lives might help you.

  • Life is a train ride with many stops. Not all people will get on and off the train on the same schedule as you.
  • Life is like water. It becomes stagnant if it doesn’t move. People coming in and out of lives keeps the water moving.
  • Life is full of seasons. People coming in and out of our lives represent those various seasons.

Associations between two people are impacted by time, space, and place. Change to those elements will cause the framework of relationships to get altered.

Accepting that things that bind people together can disappear. One example is having a child participate in an activity that connects you with other parents. When that event stops it might cause the bond to disintegrate.

Finally understand that people evolve and those changes to us or them can result in one of us disappearing. Maybe more important enjoy the company of others when they are visible and present.
