Today for the 30-Day Musial Instrument Coach4aday Challenge the post is going to feature the ACCORDION.

Growing up in the 1960’s watching TV as a family endeavor was part of nightly routines especially in the colder months of the year. If we would be visiting one of my aunts or uncles on a Saturday evening the sounds of an ACCORION played by Lawrence Welk would come on at 8:30PM.

History

Frederich Buschmann from Germany is credited with the invention of the Handoline. Over the years his creation would go under many name changes and eventually in 1829 it became known as the Accordion. When immigration from Europe began to come in large numbers to the United States many brought along that instrument.

Today it plays a large role in many different musical genres including the European Polka, the Latino Polka from Mexico, the Argentinian Tango, and the American Cajun Zydeco. Some musicians are characters from movies, some are Louisiana legends, and iconic Tex-Mex legends.
