Today for Day-2 of the 30-Day DEAL Coach4aday Challenge I am explaining AUTOMATE.

Yesterday when I described this challenge for August, I briefly explained the concept of Automate below.

AUTOMATE-Is it possible to delegate tasks to someone else or use some type of platform to remove the tasks that don’t provide you joy.

Sometimes people struggle with the difference between delegation and automation. When I read the book 4 Hour Work Week I began to understand the practical concept of the 80/20 principle. In essence can you review the following: three questions.

1.Who are the top 20% of people you spend time with that produce 80% of your positive emotional well-being?

2.Looking at habits or rituals which 20% produce 80% of the desired results you want in your life?

3.Looking at activities or tasks what 20% produce 80% or more of joy you experience?

If you can get some of those answers, I am confident the YouTube video clip below can help you. Tim Ferris the author of that book explains the importance and differences of both delegation and automation. He explains how creating a “To Do List” and just important “Don’t Do List” are keys. Knowing the answers to those questions above let you put those top 20% responses on your “To Do List”. The other 80% need to go on the “Don’t Do List” if possible, with AUTOMATION or Delegation.

One personal example for me is feeling obligated to answer the phone while I am exercising each morning. I use technology to help with that. Each morning I personalize my voice mail message with details on that day. That allows me to turn my phone to silent while I am walking 18 holes on the golf course. It prevents distractions and still gives my family, friends or clients an opportunity to know what my schedule is like that day.
