October 2026 several of us are going to take on the 30-Day Celebrity Alma Mater Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we will identify a celebrity and share where they attended college. For Day 3 it is on WOODY HARRELSON

When you’re an actor like Woody Harrelson, you tend to become known for the characters you bring to life on film, television, and the stage. Harrelson has certainly had plenty of memorable opportunities to do just that.

From Woody Boyd on Cheers to roles in Natural Born Killers, The People vs. Larry Flynt, No Country for Old Men, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, his career has given audiences plenty of reasons to remember his name.

Harrelson attended Hanover College and established a friendship with a classmate who is also has been in the news.

Basic daily format:

Day 2-Woody Harrelson and Hanover College

Celebrity: Woody Harrelson

Alma Mater: Hanover College

Why They Are Famous: Harrelson was basically a stage actor prior to joining the cast of Cheers (1982-1993) in 1985. He came on board in Season 4 and replaced Coach who was played Nicholas Colasanto and died in 1985. Harrelson was on the show as Woody Boyd for the 8 years.

College Connection: Harrelson graduated from Hanover in 1983 with degrees in theater arts and English

Interesting Fact: Woody Harrelson was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity while attending Hanover College. Harrelson was at Hanover at the same time as former US VP Mike Pence, although Pence was not a member of Sigma Chi.
