Today’s contribution to the 30-Day Musical Instrument Coach4aday Challenge is on the TUBA.

This instrument was invented by Willhelm Friedrich Wieprecht and Johann Gottfried Moritz in September 12, 1835. When it comes to an orchestra the Tuba is considered the anchor of the brass section.

Facts about the Tuba

Located a couple of websites that had lots of interesting facts. Some of the fascinating quirks I found at TakeNote included:

Marching bands use a specially designed instrument for ease of carrying. These marching tubas rest on the players shoulders for support and look like large trumpets.

They come in a variety of pitches ranging from the deep bass of the extremely rare subcontrabass to the much higher pitched tenor tuba.

Sounds and Artists

I actually know a professional musician that performs and teaches others all about this deep brass. Her name is Joanna Hersey.

Below is a video of her playing.

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
