For the month of September 2024 several of us are going to take on the 30-Day Periodic Elements Coach4aday Challenge. The concept is to show the symbol of one of the 118 elements and give a few facts about it. Today I have chosen Ti.

Ti is the symbol for Titanium

30-Day Elements Challenge Guidelines

Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines.

  1. Each day in September 2024 show the symbol for one particular element.
  2. Share at least one fact about that element
  3. If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms

Here are three facts about Titanium.

Strong and Lightweight: Titanium is known for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. It is as strong as steel but about 45% lighter, making it ideal for use in aerospace, automotive, and military applications. Its strength and lightness are also why titanium is commonly used in high-performance sports equipment, like bicycles and golf clubs.

Corrosion-Resistant: Titanium is highly resistant to corrosion, even in harsh environments like seawater and acidic conditions. This makes it an excellent material for medical implants, such as hip replacements and dental implants, as well as in marine and chemical processing industries.

Biocompatible: Titanium is biocompatible, meaning it is not harmful to living tissue, making it an ideal material for medical devices and implants. Its ability to integrate well with bone (a process called osseointegration) makes it a preferred choice for surgical implants, such as joint replacements, bone screws, and pacemakers.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
