We are not all going to be classroom teachers but almost every leader is going to find her/himself in a position where they will be a teacher. You may be required to teach new skills, processes, and competencies to your team.

TEACHING works when certain best practices are in place. People want to have a self-value of being competent. Sometimes teaching a new skill causes them to leave that safe place and experience incompetence. As a teacher you have to be aware of that feeling and guide them thru that phase.

I believe different approaches work for different professionals and students.

Even though different techniques might be effective there may be no substitute for the following:

• Know Your Subject
• Learning will be hard at first for those that you are teaching-don’t let them get frustrated
• Plan your lessons well
• Make the first interaction memorable
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods
