#Subjects August 13

I have a tendency when attempting to come up with an idea to write about to just sit still and reflect. In doing that this morning I gazed at a black and white composition book and it made me think back to my school days. It even had multiplication chart and spelling rules on the inside cover.

I thought about SUBJECTS I had in school that are either no longer offered or hard to find.

Here is a list of what I came up with that I feel confident would be hard to find in many US Classrooms today.

  1. Learning to write in cursive-For me it was the dreaded repetition of the Palmer Method.

My mom and dad had beautiful cursive handwriting but not me. My cursive  is so bad that my entire life I have written notes with printed words.

2. It was offered in my high school but I never took a course-Home Economics

3. Shop Classes- I did take wood shop class and learned a few things.

4. I took a Library Science Class in college where the focus was on the Dewey Decimal System

5. Comprehensive PE programs where you got exposed to all types of sports.

6. Typing Class-I had that in High School-Just remember speed typing tests. I also remember being blindfolded and being asked to type what the teacher called out.

The six SUBJECTS above probably will be classes my granddaughter will never be exposed to in school. That is a sore SUBJECT with me.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
