#SongLyricSunday -“Yes, we have No Bananas”-Oct 18

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

This week for Song Lyric Sunday our host Jim Adams for has given us the prompt of No/Yes I am going to choose a song that has both in the title.

Here are the “rules”:
• Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it contains the prompt words or not.  If it does not meet the criteria, then please explain why you chose this song.
• Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.
• Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
• Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
• Ping back to this post or place your link in the comments section below.
• Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
• Feel free to suggest future prompts.
• Have fun and enjoy the music.

I didn’t have to think long of a song I wanted to use that included both YES and NO. The title is YES, we have NO Bananas.

The song is actually in the public domain. That mean if a song along with a book, movie, or artwork falls in to that category it is not protected by intellectual property laws (copyright, trademark, or patent laws)—which means it’s free for you to use without permission.

This tune is also considered a novelty song. The oversimplified definition is that is a song performed for its comic properties. YES, we have NO Bananas was written in 1923 by Frank Silverstadt better known as Frank Silver and Irving Cohn.

Here are the lyrics:

The song was a part of Jimmy Durante Radio Show.

My favorite rendition of Yes We Have No Bananas comes from Louis Prima.
