#SongLyricSunday-Sweet Memphis-September 19
We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
This week our host Jim Adams for Song Lyric Sunday has given us the prompt of Delightful, Pleasant, Sweet.
For the entire month of September I am doing a 30 Day Daily Biography Challenge. Each day it requires you to write briefly about one individual. I am using Jim’s prompt to focus on either the artist or songwriter. So Jim is assisting me greatly with Song Lyric Sunday.
Please consider carving out time to read the posts of other bloggers who responded to the Song Lyric Sunday challenge.
Rules for Song Lyric Sunday
Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it contains the prompt words or not. If it does not meet the criteria, then please explain why you chose this song.
• Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due. Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be.
• Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
• Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
• Ping back to this post or place your link in the comments section below.
• Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
• Feel free to suggest future prompts.
• Have fun and enjoy the music.
Sweet Memphis
Engaging in this weekly prompt has exposed me to a whole host of musical artists and songs. This week was another example. Last month I listened to a playlist that Spotify provides me each week called Discover Weekly. One of the tracks was called “Sweet Memphis” by Chris Daniels and the Kings. To be official the band full name is Chris Daniels and the Kings (now with Freddi Gowdy)
This song appears on their 2017 album titled “Blues With Horns”.
This band has been playing for 35 plus years and is based out of Colorado. The Kings have also served as the back up band for Garth Brooks, Bonnie Raitt, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Johnnyswim, Sonny Landreth, David Bromberg, Al Kooper, Bo Diddly, members of Little Feat, and Was Not Was at the Roxy in LA to name a few.
I know I am going to upset Jim but try as I might I could just not locate the lyrics to the song. It was written by Chris Daniels. To get the lyrics you will have to listen. Take in the nice work on slide guitar and horns-it is SWEET sound.
Next week the prompt is Other, That, This
I stopped getting upset as it is much easier to let people do whatever they want.
Great choice 💜
