This week our host Jim Adams for Song Lyric Sunday has given us the prompt of “songs that mention fruit”

The goal is to take the prompt and profile a song that has it part of its lyrics or title.

Please consider carving out time to read the posts of other bloggers who responded to the Song Lyric Sunday challenge.

Rules for Song Lyric Sunday

Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it contains the prompt words or not.  If it does not meet the criteria, then please explain why you chose this song.
• Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.  Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be.
• Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
• Link to the YouTube video or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
• Ping back to this post or place your link in the comments section below.
• Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
• Feel free to suggest future prompts.
• Have fun and enjoy the music.

Orange Blossoms

Most people when they hear music and a title with Orange Blossom in it, they may gravitate to Johnny Cash and his version of “Orange Blossom Special”. That song was written by Ernest T. Rouse and has been given the nickname of the “Fiddler Player’s National Anthem“. When Cash recorded the song, he replaced the fiddle with two harmonicas and a saxophone.

My song this week is “Orange Blossoms” by JJ Grey and Mofro. The song was the title track from their album with the same name. JJ Grey wrote the song and it got released in 2008.

JJ Grey is from Florida and people have often attempted to pigeonhole his sound into various genre. Google “Swamp Rock” and they often appear in the search engine. I like their sound because it has many elements of the blues and R&B.

Video

The video for this song is depicted as criminal documentary about the notorious and violent Orange Blossom Industry. Please know it is all fiction but really well done. The characters in the video are actually band members. Talmadge “Sweet Thang” Davis is JJ Grey and Daryl Hance is Roy “Tater” Rothstein.

Next week the weekly prompt is “songs that mention a musical instrument”
