We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

This week our host Jim Adams for Song Lyric Sunday has given us the prompt of Hop/Jump/Leap/Pounce/Spring.

Take some time to read the posts of other bloggers who respond to this music challenge, and even better, read as many of them as you are able to as you will probably find many enjoyable songs and it is quite possibly that you will learn a thing or two.  Also feel free to offer up your suggestion to this week’s prompt.

Here are the “rules”:
• Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, whether it contains the prompt words or not.  If it does not meet the criteria, then please explain why you chose this song.
• Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.  Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be.
• Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
• Link to the YouTube video, or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
• Ping back to this post or place your link in the comments section below.
• Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
• Feel free to suggest future prompts.
• Have fun and enjoy the music.

I picked a1956 jazz swing song by Louis Prima titled “Jump Jive an’ Wail“. I first heard this song when The Gap used Prima’s version in a “Khakis Swing” commercial in 1998. To say that Prima had an influence on American music is an understatement. His music lives on today in cinema and TV shows.

GAP TV Commercial from 1998

The song first appeared on his album The Wildest! and became one of his signature songs. Keely Smith, Prima’s wife at that time, was one of the backup singers on the song. The song also won a Grammy in 1999 for The Brian Setzer Orchestra for Best Pop Performance . The sax intro to the song is fantastic.

One interesting thing I learned about Louis Prima was his love of golf. He built his own golf course in 1970 and called it Warm Spring Country Club but it was dubbed the “Fairway to the Stars”. The Las Vegas NV course closed in the 1970’s.

Here are the lyrics

As in past weeks two videos-the first is Louis Prima.

The second video is the 1999 music video from The Brian Setzer Orchestra

Don’t know about anybody else but the song makes me want to jump!

Next week should be interesting with a prompt of Endless/Eternity/Everlasting/Forever/Infinity/Omega.

Louis Prima made some great music. These classics never go out of style. That last video was fun to watch.
