• Please try to include the songwriter(s) – it’s a good idea to give credit where credit is due.  Your post can be as long or as short as you want it to be.
• Make sure you also credit the singer/band and if you desire you can provide a link to where you found the lyrics.
• Link to the YouTube video or pull it into your post so others can listen to the song.
• Ping back to this post or place your link in the comments section below.
• Read at least one other person’s blog, so we can all share new and fantastic music and create amazing new blogging friends in the process.
• Feel free to suggest future prompts.
• Have fun and enjoy the music.

King of Pain

The song I selected this week is likely to be chosen by others. The title is “King of Pain” and was written and recorded by Sting in 1982 while he was part of The Police. The song is part of one of the great albums of all time-Synchronicity.

He wrote the song at an estate in Jamicia called “Goldeneye” formerly owned by Ian Fleming. Sting also wrote “Every Breath You Take” while vacationing there.

One reason I love this song is xylophone that can be heard on the track. On the record it is played by drummer Stewart Copeland. Often during “Live Performances” Copeland would play the xylophone for a minute before moving to the drums.

A second reason for loving this song is the lyrics. It begins with the iconic words:

“There’s a little black spot on the sun today
It’s the same old thing as yesterday”

Next week the prompt will be Suit, Pants, Dress, Shirt
