For January 2025, several of us are taking part in the 30-Day Song Lyrics Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we utilize a theme and post the SONG LYRICS from a song that connects the two. Today my theme is on the mind and my song is THINK.
I need to give the credit for this month’s challenge to Jeff Neelon who thought it would be clever to share lyrics or background story on songs. I embellished his idea by having each participant create a daily theme and find a song that resonates with that concept. For instance, you could have the theme of automobiles and possibly select a song with a title like Fast Car by Tracy Chapman or Hot Rod Lincoln by Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airman.
Song Lyrics 30-Day Challenge Guidelines
Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines
- Post the lyrics to the song of your choice, and explain, if necessary, why it connects to your daily theme.
- Please try to include the songwriters
- Link to a video so people can listen to the song
January 1st Theme–Mind-Jan 1st Song– Think
If you ever watched the 1980 film “The Blues Brothers” you may remember the scene where Aretha Franklin was working as a waitress in a diner with her husband Matt “Guitar” Murphy. The Blue Brothers (Jake and Elwood) enter the diner telling Matt that were putting the band back together to save an orphanage.
Aretha reaction to her husband contemplating the move had her sing him a song titled “Think“. She was trying to get him to use his mind in making the decision.
The song “Think” was recorded in 1968 and was written by Aretha Franklin and Ted White who was her husband and manager. Many think that Aretha getting a part in this 1980 movie helped rejuvenate her career.
