The week of March 16-22 I took daily hikes of 4-6 miles. I was amazed at the SIGHTS and sounds. I am taking advantage of outdoor exercise during COVID-19.
That same week I made a few trips in the car mostly to the grocery store. I was amazed at what I observed.

This post is an attempt to compile those SIGHTS and sounds. It is not judgmental it is just a collection of observations. I encourage everyone to become more conscious and intentional in taking in the world.
I do a majority of my walks along the Lumber River utilizing Luther Britt Park. I have definitely seen an uptick in people fishing mostly by themselves. I have observed all kinds of wildlife including hawks, herons, geese, turtles, squirrels, and egrets.

I have seen Mother Nature begin to bloom. Azaleas, daffodils, and dogwoods are starting to show off their colors.

I have seen gas prices falling, grocery stores with empty shelves when you look for bread and toilet paper, traffic still rolling on I-95 with the volume high headed north thru Lumberton, and a few church parking lots full on Wednesday evenings.
I have seen youth baseball teams practicing in the evenings, people reading on their porch or backyards, and spotted a princess in a blue gown walking down the sidewalk holding her mom’s hand.

I have heard ambulances, Life Flight Helicopters, and freight trains. I have heard dogs barking, cats growling, and song birds chirping. I have heard the sound of the mailman closing neighborhood mail boxes. I have heard the sizzle of all types of meats sizzling on the grill. I have listened to lawn mowers, hedge clippers, and weed eaters.
The SIGHTS and sounds of social distancing still gives me a feeling of hope.
