For the month of September 2024 several of us are going to take on the 30-Day Periodic Elements Coach4aday Challenge. The concept is to show the symbol of one of the 118 elements and give a few facts about it. Today I have chosen Pd

Pd is the symbol for Palladium.

Elements 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines.

  1. Each day in September 2024 show the symbol for one particular element.
  2. Share at least one fact about that element
  3. If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms

Here are three facts about Palladium.

Catalytic Converter Component: Palladium is widely used in the automotive industry in catalytic converters, which help reduce harmful emissions from vehicle exhaust.

Precious Metal for Jewelry: Palladium is a precious metal, often used in fine jewelry. It belongs to the platinum group of metals and has a silvery-white appearance. Due to its durability and resistance to tarnish, palladium is a popular choice for crafting rings and other jewelry, often as an alternative to platinum.

Role in Electronics: Palladium plays an essential role in the electronics industry, particularly in the production of capacitors and connectors. It is used in multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs), which are vital components of smartphones, computers, and other electronic devices, as well as in plating for connectors due to its excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
