#Reward January 29

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Tomorrow I will close the chapter on the 30-Day Sugar Free Detox Coach4aday Challenge. The question came up how to REWARD myself.

Dealing with the way to celebrate has also caused me to reflect on why attempt any 30-Day Challenges. The answer to the why question is to attempt to create new habits. Habits that can improve some aspect of my life. Answering what the REWARD should be needs to factor in a few things.

Warnings About REWARDS

What is chosen for any REWARD needs to make sure it doesn’t cause us to revert back to behavior we were attempting to change. Going Sugar-Free for 30 days has been difficult and my REWARD cannot be to go on sugar consuming binge.

Reward Ideas

One concept that has been driven home over the past month is that there our recommended added sugar amounts each of us should take into consideration. You can find those numbers for sugar and other dietary concerns at this CDC link.

My reward later this week will include some foods with added sugar but making sure it does not exceed the daily recommended amount. Small examples would be buttered whole wheat toast (bread has added sugars), ketchup (it has added sugar) on a big cheeseburger and being able to add sweetener to my one cup of coffee. Those items combined would most likely keep me below the recommended added daily sugar level if I stayed away from everything else.

Finally, the big REWARD is that I have created a habit of becoming aware of what I eat. The goal of any challenge is to change and grow. When it comes to sugar added to my diet that has occurred. My new habit is stay below the recommended added sugar limits.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
