Today’s post is a RECAP of the #Coach4adayChallenge for May. This month it was to share “Life Lessons” you had learned from others.

I want to first say thanks to Jeff Neelon for his diligence in posting daily during this challenge. He offered up some real interesting nuggets of wisdom that broadened my horizons. Knowing a little more about golf, money, leadership, and food became daily gifts I received from Jeff.

Pictured below is another #Coach4adayChallenge coin Jeff has earned.

During the the past month I have come to realize how much I have learned from interesting people and books. Many of the “Life Lessons” have become values or principles that I live my life by. When I reflected on each lesson I realized that they each of them changed me.

The setting for many of these “Life Lessons” was often nothing spectacular the moment it was occurring. Implementation of what I had read, heard, or observed became the key to grow as a leader. One of my favorite quotes is about coaching and teaching. It goes as follows:

“When the player is ready the teacher always appears”

May became the 17th consecutive month I have completed a new or unique challenge. This month sharing what I have learned along the way has been both therapeutic and invigorating. There have been many personal reminders to reinvest time and energy into self-improvement.

Tomorrow it is on to a new #Coach4adayChallenge. Hope you will consider joining in for the month of June. Who knows maybe you will qualify for a virtual challenge coin. Pretty hard offer to resist isn’t it!

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
