I am really excited that a large number of family and friends decided to accept the 30 Day Challenge for August. It required trying one new thing every day for the entire month.

The list who agreed to the challenge is not comprehensive but it included Jeff Neelon, Tina Bullard, Patricia Fields, David Ruth, John Rancke, John Tanner, Charlie Noble, Lee Ann Musslewhite, Sue Ann Johnson, Carolyn Watson, Bonnie Biggs, Leo Bashinsky, Angela Sumner, Linda Branch, Owen Thomas, and a few that want to remain anonymous.

This month’s RECAP of the 30 Day Challenge “Do Something New” includes award winning sports announcer Jim Lampley providing the RECAP for August. You can see his report at this link.

What this group tried was really impressive. I can say I am humbled to be part of this team that took on so many new challenges.

It included travel, scratching a curiosity itch, sampling new recipes and foods, drinking new cocktails and beers, reading new books, trying new positions in bed, watching new videos, endurance swimming records, hot air balloon ride, visiting tattoo parlors, playing new games, car pool karaoke, axe throwing, writing, listening to nature, listening to music, meeting new people, reading political speeches, writing and singing an original song, and just throwing caution to the wind.

If any of you want to add to the RECAP or even refute Jim Lampley’s version of the past month please add it to the comment section. If you are proud of something new you took on please share. The scope of what the group did was eye opening.

I think I speak for each us that August’s 30 Day Challenge taught us a lesson about how to best live life.

“If it doesn’t challenge us it can’t change us”

The biggest enemy of attempting something new is fear. The fear of failing. The fear of other peoples opinions. The fear we might be wrong and actually enjoy it. When fear is left to its own devices it paralyzes us. This challenge really was a month of taking on fear.

It is so cliché but true, that the fear of trying something new is far worse than the actual outcome. More often than not when we tackle fear we become exhilarated. I am totally impressed with what August taught and reminded each of us. Each of you is a rock star.

Tomorrow is September 1st so I will begin another 30 Day Challenge.

Hope you will consider joining me and others next month. I already have commitments from several of you. The reveal will be part of tomorrow’s Coach4aday blog.
