Today’s #Coach4aday post in on changes to office PRODUCTS.

There are office products that technology has caused a decline in sales to. Two years ago, I composed a piece on the Fax Machine. That investigation led me to the conclusion that machine sales were in decline everywhere except Japan.

If you are feeling nostalgic for a sound from the office of the 1990’s here, you go.

Office items in decline

Changes in technology, shifting workplace trends, and increased competition have caused some office products to decline. Here are a few.

  1. Desktop Computers – With the increasing popularity of laptops, tablets, and smartphones, desktop computers have seen a decline in sales over the past decade.
  2. Printers – The shift towards paperless offices and the availability of digital documents have led to a decline in the sales of printers.
  3. Paper Products – The move towards a more digital workplace has led to a decline in the sales of paper products such as notebooks, memo pads, and sticky notes.
  4. Landline Telephones – The increasing use of mobile phones and the availability of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) services has led to a decline in the sales of landline telephones.
  5. Physical Storage – With the growth of cloud-based storage solutions, physical storage products such as USB drives and external hard drives have seen a decline in sales.
