Today for the 30-Day Podcast Coach4aday Challenge my theme is PROCRASTINATION.

Many talented people struggle with putting off the necessary or important tasks. It is a dilemma that I often encounter in working with clients or teams as they attempt to improve.

Day 25 Podcast

Many good resources to improve as a leader can be found on the web. One for business leaders is the Harvard Business Review. Many of the features of this site require a subscription but some features are free including their podcasts.

So, my podcast for today is the Harvard Business Review IdeaCast.

The episode I choose was #856-“3 Strategies for Dealing with Procrastination“. The show is hosted by Curt Nickisch and his guest is a native of New Zealand named Alice Boyes. She is a former clinical psychologist and now an author.

Podcast Takeaways

Alice recommends three key strategies habits, emotions, and thought patterns.

Harnessing emotions.  Find a way to channel our emotions in service of our values, in service of our goals.

We have to accept that doing something for the first time or doing something that you’ve never done before has value. It also has friction that may cause us to feel worse when we begin. The secret is accepting that is how we grow.
