For the 30-Day State Trivia Coach4aday Challenge I wondered how many sitting US PRESIDENTS have visited Wyoming?

As of today, current US PRESIDENT Joe Biden has not visited but he has been there a number of times as a Vice President. Going back to Ulysses S Grant 25 of the last 28 leaders have spent time in Wyoming while serving in office. Grover Cleveland, Benjamin Harrison, and Joe Biden are the only three Presidents since Grant that never visited Wyoming while serving in office. Of course, Biden has two more years left on his current term.

Wyoming Presidential Visits

The longest Presidential visit took place in 1883, when Chester A. Arthur spent two months vacationing in Wyoming. Locals teased the New York aristocrat for wearing business suits during his rugged adventures across the state.

Ulysses S. Grant travelled though the Cowboy State while he was in the Army and returned during his second term as President.

President Warren Harding visited Yellowstone in 1923, shortly before he died. There is a geyser in Yellowstone named after him.

President Calvin Coolidge visited Cody on July 4, 1927, for the opening of the Buffalo Bill Museum.

Theodore Roosevelt was a big fan of the state, and he made several trips during his presidential tenure and returned to Wyoming to vacation after he left Washington. He made his final visit to the park in 1903 during a two-week vacation. During that trip, he laid the cornerstone for the park’s Roosevelt Arch.

President Bill and first lady Hillary Clinton took a stroll around Old Faithful Geyser in 1995.

President Barack Obama and his family visited Yellowstone in 2009 and had lunch in the park’s Old Faithful Snow Lodge.

President Jimmy Carter fished in Lake Yellowstone and then returned to the park after his presidency and dined in the employee pub at the park’s Lake Lodge.
