For the 30-Day BASEBALL Coach4aday Challenge today I am writing about MOOSE Skowron.
William Joseph Skowron nicknamed Moose played in the Major Leagues for 14 years (1954-1967). His career included time with the NY Yankees (1954-1962)-Dodgers (1963)-Senators and White Sox (1964) White Sox (1964-1966) White Sox -Angels (1967). Most of his career he played first base.

- He won five World Series championships with the Yankees in the 1950s and early 1960s.
- Skowron was known for his powerful hitting and was selected to eight All-Star games during his career. He hit 211 home runs and had a batting average of .282 in 1,658 games.
- After retiring from baseball, Skowron worked as a coach and a broadcaster. He also owned a restaurant in his hometown of Chicago called “Moose’s Restaurant” that specialized in Italian cuisine.
- Skowron was inducted into the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame in 1997. He was also honored by the New York Yankees with a plaque in Monument Park at Yankee Stadium in 2009.
