#Money January 25
We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.
For January 2025, several of us are taking part in the 30-Day Song Lyrics Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we utilize a theme and post the song lyrics from a song that connects the two. Today my theme is on banned music and my song is MONEY.
If you listen to songs played today on mainstream radio it might be hard to comprehend that in the 60’s and 70’s songs got banned. My song choice today is by Pink Floyd and is titled “Money”. The song was written by Roger Waters and released in 1973. It got censored by US Radio Stations because the lyrics contained the word bullshit.
Roger Waters is the only songwriter credited on “Money,” but the lead vocal is by David Gilmour and he has quite a guitar rift on this song. Personally, I have always enjoyed the sax solo by Richard Parry on this tune.

January 25th-Theme-Banned-Song-Money
Pink Floyd included this song on the album “The Dark Side of the Moon” which sold 34 million copies and made the band lots of cash.
Lyrics
Money, get away
Get a good job with more pay and you’re okay
Money, it’s a gas
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream
Think I’ll buy me a football team
Money, get back
I’m alright, Jack, keep your hands off of my stack
Money, it’s a hit
Don’t give me that do-goody-good bullshit
I’m in the high-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a lear jet
(Uoh, saxophone)
Money, it’s a crime
Share it fairly, but don’t take a slice of my pie
Money, so it’s said
It’s the root of all evil today
But if you ask for a rise
It’s no surprise that they’re giving none away
Away, away, away
Away, away
Away, away, away
