Today’s word for the 30-Day Quotation Challenge is MOMENTS.

This past Sunday I was out of town travelling and did not get to attend church. During services I often find myself reflecting on the message of sermon. Many thoughts revolve around me recalling fantastic MOMENTS in my life. When my brain is bringing up those memories gratitude and appreciation builds in me.

Think of the gift that past events can give us. Recently I have had long conversations with friends and colleagues. Those talks have centered on them dealing with parents enduring some form of dementia that prevents memory recall. Sadly, that condition takes away from them many significant events. Having the gift of a sound mind allows me to recall special times including the list below.

Personal List of Fantastic Moments

  • Purchasing a bike with money I saved in 1965 from shoveling snow off neighbors’ sidewalks
  • Riding that bike home in 1967 with my first paycheck at a butcher shop in Morristown NJ.
  • The trips with friends or just being with them socially
  • Visiting sacred places-example Gettysburg National Military Park
  • Witnessing the birth of my five children-I have an honorary degree in Lamaze
  • Retiring happy, healthy, and with no regrets after 43 years of working in higher ed.as a coach/administrator
  • Getting to spend time or having conversations with my granddaughter
  • Having all or part of my family gather together
  • Appreciating the beauty of nature
  • Getting to serve others
  • Getting out of bed excited about the day ahead-including today

Quote

My quote comes from an author named Paul Coelho that penned the book “The Alchemist“. It is a book everyone should consider reading.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
