Two weeks ago, my civic club had a guest speaker talk about the importance of having a personal MISSION STATEMENT. He asked for a show of hands on who had one. Even though I had crafted one I realized it probably could get refined and updated.

Having one allows you to define your purpose and values succinctly.

30 Words or Less -My Personal Mission Statement

Life, a divine gift from God, is best cherished through daily gratitude. My purpose: coaching and serving others, guided by thirteen core values that create a system of daily habits.

Many of the teachings of Stephen Covey helped guide me in learning how to write a personal mission statement. This might be a helpful link for others interested in doing the same.

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
