Today the NFL plays the Super Bowl and each year it gets assigned a Roman Number. The game today is Super Bowl LIV. Do you need a chart to help you do a conversion with Roman Numerals?

Super Bowl LIV

So by now you have figured out that this makes 2020 the Fifty-Fourth edition of the Super Bowl.

I was curious on two things.

First. The history of the game.

I found a 25 minute video that is pretty comprehensive if you want to watch it. I embedded it below. The inaugural owner of the Kansas City Chiefs was 27 year old Lamar Hunt. His decision and influence is critical to the history of the Super Bowl. A ticket to the first game was just $6.00 and it was not a sellout.

Second.

The evolution of advertising with the game has been prolific. In Super Bowl I the cost of a 30 Second TV Ad was $42,000. For Super Bowl LIV you need to dish out 5 Million for an ad. When you watch today keep that in mind.

The YouTube video below really gives a great history of TV Ad and the Super Bowl. The advertising world really changes in 1984 when Apple introduced their ad.

If you can’t wait for the game’s kickoff to know what might get aired Extreme Reach and Kris Estrella have a sneak preview in their article dubbed Super Bowl LIV Ad Line-Up

Like many of you I will be watching Super Bowl LIV with friends, eating too much, and judging history.
