Throughout December 2024, several of us are taking part in the 30-Day PPT Coach4aday Challenge. PPT is an acronym for People Places or Things. Each day we share our insights, thoughts, or memories about a person (living or dead), a place (we have visited or learned about) or a thing that intrigues us. Today I’m featuring Christmas LIGHTS.
Last week my wife encountered a homebound member of our church who laminated about a lack of Christmas Tree Lights in neighborhoods in our community. We both commented that she should see the home displays on Chestnut Street in Lumberton NC. Two families in Lumberton on Chestnut between 12th and 14th Street went all in including Paula and James Bass and it is quite a show.
Here is a photo from 2019 with my granddaughter admiring characters pop out of a hot cocoa cup.
People, Places, & Things 30-Day Challenge Guidelines
Like previous challenges there are no hard and fast rules to participate. There are a few suggested guidelines
- Each day in December 2024 write about a Person, Place or Thing-PPT
- Share at least one fact, memory, or quality about your subject choice.
- If so inclined use the hash tag #Coach4adayChallenge on social media platforms
December 24th-Lights
I understand why the lady speaking to my wife might have felt display of lights was different. In Lumberton, NC a decade ago a neighborhood out on Rozier Church Road stopped doing a display of Christmas Lights. It was really well done but traffic caused the neighbors to end the tradition.
Many folks in Robeson County NC will make the trip to in neighboring Bladen County to see the Festival of Lights. at LuMill Vineyards. Shown below
For people in the State of North Carolina the place to go is town just west of Charlotte called McAdenville. They bill themselves as Christmas Town USA.
