I got asked a very poignant question last week.

What INSPIRES you?

I answered very quickly it is not what that INSPIRES me but who INSPIRES me.

Here are some of the qualities of leaders that INSPIRE me.

Those that are vulnerable. They tell a story about themselves that includes it all. Their failures. Their flaws. Their quirks. Most importantly their journey and what it has taught them.

Those that are empathetic. I love what Brene Brown says “Empathy fuels connection”. Leaders that are empathetic INSPIRE me because they connect with me.

They model a servant leader heart. They are constantly asking what they can do to help others.

They have a purpose in their life. Very often that purpose is to see others grow, prosper, and succeed.

When I meet people that are vulnerable, empathetic, serve others, and have a clear defined purpose for their life I get INSPIRED.

Coach4aday

My purpose in life is to coach. I am a former collegiate basketball coach, director of athletics, and chief of staff. I worked at four NCAA Division I & II universities during my career. At each campus I learned timeless lessons on teamwork and leadership. Today my passion is coaching others on what it takes to lead, serve, and succeed.
