This month engaged in the 30-Day Sitting and Rising Coach4aday Challenge has me thinking about the human body. One particular part is the tongue which is a muscular HYDROSTAT.

Understanding this unique definition piqued my curiosity. Simply put it is a biological structure found in animals. The key is that it is fact a muscle but receives no skeletal support.

The Human Tongue

The average weight of tongue for an adult male is about 70 grams which is less than 3 ounces. There might not be a more powerful muscle in the human body. Exercise or regular use can strengthen almost any muscle including the tongue. When something is just 3 ounces it doesn’t take much to cause it to change its power.

The danger of that power related to that Muscular Hydrostat located inside our mouth is how we use it. I have read many spiritual references that words from our mouth are like fire. Our words have a wide spectrum of power and influence just like fire.

Fire can provide warmth, help us prepare delicious meals, and provide light in the darkness. Yet fire can also ravage a home, burn us severely, and cause total destruction to wide swaths of the earth.

The words that flow from our tongue can be like fire. The words that flow from our tongue can be a lifeline to others. We all need to remember to use our words wisely and exercise our Hydrostat with as much positivity as possible.
