I came across some video footage of how large cities in the world appeared in 1890’s and the beginning of the 20th century. In just about every city across the globe the men and boys were wearing HATS.

A man wearing a HAT in the first half of the 20th Century was the norm. Then in 1961 President John F. Kennedy did not wear a HAT at his inauguration.  That created an urban myth that JFK was the cause of men wearing HATS. Here is link to blog post called JFK HAT Legacy.

I also found this YouTube video called 400 Years of HATS in 3 Minutes

I also found a blog post from 2011 titled Men’s HATS: A Brief History

I wear a bucket HAT when I play golf and occasionally on a cold winter day might sport a wool flat HAT.

Despite what you might read men wearing HATS in the United States has not reached the level it was at a 100 years ago.
