When I retired in 2018 I decided I wanted to have a garden. Thanks to my friend Jeff Frederick tutorial three years ago I learned about a container garden. I started my 3rd year of being a gardener on Monday April 6th. I have tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers.
I speculated that stay at home directives would be like retirement, people would get more interested in creating a GARDEN. Apparently I was correct.
On Sunday April 5 CBS new show Sunday Morning aired a piece called Victory Gardens for the war on COVID 19

During WW I and WW II America needed to prioritize food for soldiers. There was a cry out by the government for people to grow there own food. Those backyard gardens became know as Victory GARDENS.
Estimates during WWI were Americans planted 3 million backyard plots in 1917 and over 5 million in 1918. During WWII those numbers jumped to 15 million in 1942 and by the end of the war in 1944 it had risen to 20 million.
On Saturday April 4, 2020 the Washington Post did a story called “Seed Orders Boom During Pandemic”
Owners of seed companies are being besieged by people wanting to buy their product to start a GARDEN. Trust me if I can do it you can do it.
