May 2026 the 30-Day Coach4aday Challenge will feature travel pictures. It is a simple daily activity of posting a photo of a place that you have traveled to or a location you plan to visit. Today it is the view at the bottom of the Fenlon ELEVATOR in Dubuque IA.
This month marks the 77th consecutive month that friends Jeff Neelon and Jaclyn Donovan have taken on some sort of challenge. For May 2026 participants simply commit to taking or sharing one travel-themed photo each day for 30 days. Each photo just needs to be accompanied by a simple descriptor. Day 6-Fenlon Elevator
When my wife and I travel we focus on college campuses, state capitals, national & state parks, breweries, and quirky local attractions. In September 2023 we took a fantastic trip to the Midwest and located a very interesting attraction in Dubuque IA. That unique place is called a number of names including Fenlon Elevator. It is not really an elevator but a funicular railway.
When you know the history of this location it is amazing what one man did to make his lunch break last a little longer. Here are two photos.
