For the month of August 2024 several of us are going to take on a 30-Day County Coach4aday Challenge. The simple concept is to share a fact about a county in the US. My focus is going to be on North Carolina, and today I am selecting EDEGECOMBE County.
What I didn’t know about Edgecombe County was that it has history with a Native American Indian Tribe called the Tuscarora. Edgecombe County was founded in 1741 from Bertie County. Today its county seat is Tarboro. Prior to the Civil War Tarboro actually had a prominent role as a port.
Below is a map of Edgecombe County outlined in red.
County 30-Day Challenge Guidelines

- Each day in August learn something about a county in the United States
- Share that fact along with where it is located with others
