My August 30 Day Challenge is to try something new every day. I am pretty sure I am going to try some mixed drink cocktails that I have never had before.
My adult beverage of choice my entire life has been beer. Many of you know I drank 365 different beers in 2014 you can read recap here. Every day I drank one different beer.
I usually do not stray away from beer. There was one fateful mistake I made in July 2018 drinking margaritas mixed with Mt. Dew aboard a sunset cruise in Key West. The sunset and company were wonderful but that drink did not lead to pleasant feelings the next morning. My friends Ron & Paula, Ken & Shannon, Don & Maureen, and Joe & Janna can all attest to my less than stellar sense of exuberance.
Here is a pic of my wife Mira and I on that Key West Sunset Cruise with that dreaded Mt. Dew Margarita in my hand.
I just have never tried a large number of the common cocktails. It seems a number of them include some type of CARBONATED drink. So if I want to try new cocktails I am going to probably using some mixers.
Two CARBONTATED beverages in particular had me stumped on the difference. That would be club soda and tonic water. So if I am going to have my first ever Gin & Tonic or Vodka Soda I want to know about these CARBONATED mixers.
So here is what I have found out
Club Soda is CARBONATED water that has minerals added to it. It becomes CARBONATED by injecting it with CO2.
Tonic Water actually has a bitter taste. That is because it has quinine added to it along with other minerals. Tonic Water also has calories because it does have sugar.
Here is a link to an article called
What’s the Difference Between Club Soda, Seltzer, Sparkling, and Tonic Water?
The link above has a chart showing comparisons. I will let you know how my NEW experiences with CARBONATED mixers go.
