For January 2025, several of us are taking part in the 30-Day Song Lyrics Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we utilize a theme and post the song lyrics from a song that connects the two. Today my theme is on insects or bugs, and my song is I’M A KING BEE.
Dedicating my song today to Tito Massol who happens to be a beekeeper. Photo below has Tito on the left.
I am selecting a 1957 swamp blues song called “I’m a King Bee” recorded by Slim Harpo. Slim also wrote the song and recorded in July. For the record Slim’s legal name was James Moore. He died in 1970.
It has been performed and recorded by many others including The Rolling Stones. In fact the Stones had this song on their 1964 debut album. In 2008, Slim Harpo’s original received a Grammy Hall of Fame Award posthumously.
