For the 30-Day BASEBALL Coach4aday Challenge today I am writing about ALAN Fowlkes.

This might be the only post of the month where I write about someone who played in the MLB I know very well. Alan Fowlkes is a former NCAA National Champion and Major League baseball pitcher who lives in Lumberton NC.

Alan played two years for both the San Francisco Giants and California Angels in the mid 1980’s.

FAQ’s Alan Fowlkes

Alan is included in the NCAA Record books for what he accomplished at Cal-Pomona which at the time was NCAA Division II member. In 1980, Fowlkes set NCAA records with 206 innings pitched (he’s the only pitcher in any division to pitch more than 186 innings), 19 complete games, 24 starts and 21 wins. In today’s era of everybody being a specialist Alan’s record may never be touched.

Fowlkes is a member of the Cal Poly Pomona Hall of Fame

He was a NCAA Division II Baseball All-American in 1980

As a pitcher in the NL Alan has 3 career hits all coming in 1982. He made his MLB debut at the age of 23 with the San Fransico Giants. He started 15 games for the Giants as a pitcher and has a career W-L record of 4-2.

Today Alan Fowlkes is the Executive Director of COM Tech Business Park in Pembroke NC
