In September 2025, many of us will be taking part in the 30-Day Monuments Coach4aday Challenge. Each day we will spotlight one of the nearly 50,000 National Monuments or Memorials across the United States. In addition, we’ll feature a wide range of other tributes—from statues honoring heroes and athletes to memorials recognizing outstanding citizens and many other categories. Today the post is on ABRAHAM LINCOLN.

The National Monument Audit, conducted by Monument Lab with support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, analyzed around 50,000 public monuments across the U.S. It found that Abraham Lincoln leads the list, with 193 monuments dedicated to him

My focus today is on the Gettysburg Address and the various Abraham Lincoln Statues located in Gettysburg PA.

Monuments-30 Day Challenge Guidelines

As with previous challenges, participants are encouraged to adapt the guidelines to fit their own circumstances. If you can, commit to sharing something about a Monument in September

  1. Record something about a particular US Monument. Make sure you include the location and something about its significance. Try, if possible, to include a photo.
  2. Share with a challenge partner if you have one.
  3. Join the conversation by posting on social media with the hashtag #Coach4adayChallenge

September 6-Abraham Lincoln and Gettysburg PA

There are many historical towns in the United States tied to pivotal moments in the timeline of the country. Gettysburg PA ranks right up there with places in New England and Virginia.

There are 6 significant monuments dedicated to Lincoln in Gettysburg.

Here is a brief overview of some of the Lincoln statues:

  • Lincoln Square: A statue stands in front of the David Wills home.
  • Gettysburg College: The “The Great Emancipator” statue is located in front of Stevens Hall.
  • Public Library: A statue known as “The Gettysburg Address” is in front of the library.
  • Visitor’s Center: Another likeness of Lincoln is found just outside the visitor’s center.
  • Pennsylvania Memorial: Lincoln stands at the front of this large monument on Cemetery Ridge.
  • Lincoln Address Memorial: This memorial in the cemetery commemorates the Gettysburg Address
